Huawei P smart Z unveiled: 6.59" screen and a pop-up camera on a budget
The Huawei P smart Z is the first phone from the company to sport a pop-up selfie camera. This means the 6.59 LCD screen is unblemished by a notch, which most of the recent Huawei phones have. This is not an expensive phone, its up on Amazon Italy for 280.
The mid-range price means that theres no in-display fingerprint reader, instead you get a traditional reader on the back. There youll notice the dual texture finish, which gives it a bit of a Nexus look. Also on the back is the 16MP main camera and the 2MP depth sensor.

The front camera, which is mounted on a pop-up mechanism, houses a 16MP sensor. The mechanism takes 1 second to extend. It has been tested to last 100,000 cycles and it can withstand 12kg of force. AI is available for both front and back cameras and it can retouch portraits as well as recognize 500+ scenes in 22 categories.

All of this runs on the Kirin 710F chipset hooked up to 4GB of RAM and 64GB storage (theres a microSD slot for up to 512GB more memory). The phone runs Android 9 Pie with EMUI 9.0 out of the box.
The Huawei P smart Z has a 4,000mAh battery, theres no mention of fast charging. It does use USB-C, which is news only because the P smart 2019 uses microUSB.
This was a quiet unveiling for the Z, which is partly because the phone isnt available yet. The Amazon Italy page says it will be 1-2 months before the phone is available for shipping. The official Huawei site says nothing about availability either, but we did find it on the Spanish and Italian sites, so a European launch is a given.
