Sony Xperia 10 Plus disassembly video shows the 21:9 screen is easy to replace
The latest phone to get the teardown treatment is the Sony Xperia 10 Plus. This video is for educational purposes rather than entertainment that is it will teach you how to disassemble the phone and put it back together again, no scratch or burn tests here.
You go in from the front, removing the screen (which is glued to the frame). Below that is a large metal plate, which stands between you and the motherboard. Then it gets easy. The battery is glued down, but theres a pull tab to help you set it free.
Sony put large heat spreaders over all the chips on the motherboard. Theres also a copper plate on the back to further improve the thermal dissipation. Overall, the phone is well put together and the screen looks relatively easy to replace, but swapping the battery requires a nearly complete disassembly.
The disassembly process is done about 12 minutes into the video, after that things go the other way as the phone gets reassembled.
