Week 13 in review: Huawei P30 family is finally official
The star of the past week is definitely the Huawei P30 Pro that was finally unveiled in Paris, France. It was accompanied by the vanilla P30 and plenty of gadgets, while their more affordable sibling P30 Lite silently started popping up in random markets.
Xiaomi tried to rain on Huawei's parade, mocking the P30 and P30 Pro for using a dated chipset, despite the Kirin 980 actually being the latest by HiSilicon. The company also posted another teaser of its foldable device and suggested 100W charging might be around the block.
In other news, Samsung Galaxy A70 went official, more Oppo Reno renders revealed an unusual peeking selfie camera mechanism and Lenovo VP and mobile devices leader suggested the upcoming Z6 Pro might have a 100 MP camera.
Apple also had series of announcements, mostly on services, but it didn't gather much attention - people mostly read the articles to mock the Cupertino company instead of engaging in actual debates.
This is so far the only device with two folds. The screen remains on the outside.
The 6.47" AMOLED screen gets next-gen in-display FP reader as well as acoustic display tech. Kirin 980 and 40W charging round off this flagship.
Twitter spats between companies are not uncommon these days. Earlier today Huawei took a swipe at Apple.
It can charge a dead battery in just 17 minutes.
With so many leaks we hardly expect a surprise from the launch in Paris.
This will be the first Nokia to feature a punch hole selfie camera.
Previous Samsung's went up only as tall as 19.5:9. This is only the second Galaxy to feature 25W fast charging.
The phone is up for pre-order through the official webpage of Huawei Canada.
The Irish Mobile division tweeted Thanks for the warm up Tim right ahead of the P30 launch in Paris.
The selfie camera is a massive improvement over the P20 Pro and Mate 20 Pro cameras, though not the best ever.
There are case renders and a video to confirm it.
It is rumored to come with Snapdragon 855 SoC, 48MP primary rear camera, and a 16MP pop-up selfie camera.
The former will have in-screen FP scanner, the latter to come with Infinity-O display.
The main shooter is 40 MP, while the display now has a fingerprint scanner underneath.
In-display fingerprint sensor, Snapdragon 675 and a triple camera setup.
The latest chatter from insiders suggests that the A90 will be as big as the Galaxy S10 5G. And that it will actually be called the Galaxy A80.
The module has three main parts: prism, lenses and sensor. The whole thing is surprisingly tiny.
While the global Redmi Note 7 has a 48MP main sensor on the back, same as the Pro, there are a couple of key differences between it and the Pro.
Unveiled last month, it's the first foldable smartphone by Samsung which comes with two screens.
Or several cameras that achieve 100MP resolution, perhaps.
Apple's long-rumored entry into the video subscription service realm has finally become reality.
The 3a and 3a XL should become official sometime this spring.
The feature has been in testing on the iOS app since last October.
The new Electronics Products and Solutions unit will start operation on April 1 (no, really).
Unlike the Tab A 10.1 (2019), which lacked stylus support. Another upgrade is more RAM.
